If there is an issue that gets shorted unmercifully by the MM's, and it grows to an uncontrollable amount of shares(dollars), with no amount of market manipulation left to adequately cover the shorts, what could the consequences be to the MM's? Not that they have to cover, but suppose it is much larger than that, going beyond the financial resources of some of them. Could they, themselves go bankrupt? If so, how would that impact the positions of the shareholders? With the figures of possibly trillions of shares shorted, it makes me think.
