I'm not sure CMKX lends itself to swing trading in the traditional sense of the term.

Swing trading involves all those forecasting methods you mentioned, plus tea leaves. And if chicken guts would help, I'd resort to them, too.

Swing traders want to find a stock that has pretty good movement (in either direction) that has reached the end of a swing up or down. The more volume the better. If the end of the swing-up is near, we short the stock. If the swing has reached a bottom, we go long.

It's just as risky as any other method of trading. Very heavy on TA and chart reading, with one eye constantly glued to the news ticker. It requires iron discipline, especially for establishing an exit strategy before you ever take a position in the stock.

I've had my fanny handed to me several times because I ignored my exit point and held on for a few more bucks. (greed) And also a few times because I didn't see the tell-tales that said "GET OUT NOW, FOOL!" Ignore a bearish engulfing candlestick at your own peril.
