Sarmad: Agree I see definite benefits for AMD...

Could it be something more than just a traditional investment? It seems to me that their region is a technology have not in various ways(no nuclear powers yet but Iran obviously intends to become one, no major tech manufacturing I am aware of) and that they may want to diversify away from oil. But there is also the possibility that there are politics involved. Intel does have a major design center in Israel and I can't believe that fact goes unnoticed. Israel is the only major tech center in the region and I'm sure that doesn't go over in the arab world as well.
