Got this from another board,
Lane: We are finding opportunities in the international exploration and production companies in energy. Here I am highlighting Calgary-headquartered Gran Tierra Energy Inc. (GTE/AMEX) and (GTE/TSX) which is focused on oil exploration in South America. Following its recently announced merger with Solana Resources, it promises to be an exciting production growth story. It has a strong balance sheet and good profitability prospects, even if the oil price falls further. The main production and exploration assets are in Colombia, which has become a much better place for oil companies to do business in over the last few years. It is an under explored country. Gran Tierra has an interesting discovery called Costacayo, which is thought to have 60-70 million barrels recoverable. It is light, sweet oil, which is what the world is most short of. Gran Tierra is going to achieve 15,000 BOE/D by the then of 2008, primarily from Costacayo. But the real potential is out of the next couple of years with the development of this field. It could reach 35,000 to 50,000 BOE/D somewhere in 2010. The company will fund all that growth out of cash flow.
No matter ,it always rains on my parade
