Don't shoot the messenger just because you don't like the message. The Walkley sentiment perfectly explains why IDCC beat earnings by a large amount and has traded down. He is doing his job in properly relaying the situation as he sees it, as an objective analyst.

It is now 14 months since the so called watershed event that would lead to many new 3G licenses. It is now 10 months from the about 1 year Nokia arbitration that IDCC would have a resolution. This company and its stock is now in the show me mode. Analysts no longer want to hear about economic disccussions. They want to see ink on contracts. That is probably why their were no questions on the CC.

Analysts will wait until IDCC proves they can deliver licenses like they keep saying. Walkley beleives the Ericsson watershed event is really the Nokia/Samsung damm preventing any major agreements until it is resolved. Is he wrong?

Unless we start getting licenses with meaningful revenue behind them he is right. IDCC has NEC, SHARP and ERICSON producing most of its revenues. Walkley does not see this changing until after the Nokia resolution. He also questions whether Nokia will be resolved in 2005. Nokia has succeeded in delaying the process just like they set out to do. Can they delay again? Walkley is of the opinion they they can.
