reposting this issue i'm having if anyone wants to take a shot:

Ok, so i've had this problem with my speakers crackling and popping and notice under my Device Manager there is a Multimedia Audio Controller (under "Other devices") with a big yellow questions mark and the system is sometimes discovering it trying to load drivers for with the "New Hardware Found" message on startup.

I've got a Creative PCI card that is already recognized under Sound Controllers so i can't figure out what this is finding...
possibly the on-board Sound?

possibly i've got the wrong IRQ assignment that i need to change in the BIOS...that's a fuzzy area for me but i'm researching it
