Sorry got my math wrong
9 miles by 9 miles is still a LOT of land.

From the CIA fact book:
https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/geos/bh.html

Total arable land in Belize is 22,800 sq km. ~ 14,250 sq mi.
Arable land in Belize is only 3.05% or 434 sq mi.

78 sq mi would be 18% of Belize's Gross Arable Land.

Taking 18% of the land out of food production would mean importing food.

50000 acres is 78 square miles or just under 9 miles by 9 miles, very very very small area.......................
