You're a little naive to think that the large oil companies will just sit back quietly and let a disruptive technology such as this take away there business. I grew up in a town in which the largest employer was an oil company in the Fortune 500. So I am a little biased on this issue.

Exxon had 10 billion dollars in profit last quarter alone. That is just one corporation in the far reaching oil racket. Money can make people do stupid things.
