Hey Joe - That picture is the failed FRC-A. About a year ago an RFP was sent out for FRC-B - about the right amount of time has passed for them to pick a winning bid - congress funded the first few ships in this years budget so USCG has to award before October or go back to congress with hat in hand asking for more money - my guess is award would be June/July time frame.

It doesn't matter who wins the bid...ElectroWave can work with any of the mid-tier yards like Marinette Marine, Bollinger or V.T. Halter (completely different ballgame if a top tier defense contractor like General Dynamics, Lockheed, or Northrup Grummen is the winner - in that case look for the taxpayers to foot a VERY heavy bill - thats how the FRC-A got in trouble to begin with - The big boys just can't produce smaller stuff affordably - too much overhead and the wrong mentality - great at building aircraft carriers and huge bombers though).

The icebreaker/cutter Mackinaw that Electrowave did has glowing reviews in everything I've read to date (by far not the case with all control systems in the USCG and Navy fleets). So whichever mid-tier yard that gets the contract would certainly have EW in mind for many of the cutters systems.

58 ships would be huge bucks!
