Alley
I am not worried about the tea leaves regarding compensation because the institutions will ferret it all out and they will carry the day. IDCC did just I stated last year during the great debates. They merely issued a new plan that did not require shareholder approval. If they are acting outside the acceptable boundaries of the institutions, then we will know it by the proxy results.
It is my belief that IDCC will get a significant amount from Nok/SAM after the baby splitting. If IDCC has not licensed a few major players for 3g or engaged in litigation regarding same, then that is the time that I will seriously consider an exit strategy. The only other event that would cause me concern would be the departure of our Chief Technology Officers, Ridge and Alan. Other than 3g licensing and our technology leaders, the rest is of little concern to me.
I will vote my shares after reviewing the proxy statement, but I will not engage in another series of great debates. Those that did not believe that options would have to be accounted for last year were tunnel visioned. The writing was on the wall. IDCC has issued a new plan which among other things should avoid the options evaluation methods soon to be enacted. This worry about the past is an exercise in futility. I can live with and without HC and Roath on the BOD. We need to keep our eyes on the 3g licensing ball. However, if the institutions actively recommend voting a proxy a certain way, then I will more than likely follow their reasoning. I would much prefer the Street be happy with the voting results than the debaters on this board
