Doug, Re: You're late to the party. We already discussed the 8xx price cuts, which brought them from 3-4 times the 2xx prices to a more reasonable factor of about 2.
So when AMD lowers prices, they are offering more reasonable value, but when Intel lowers prices, the sky is falling. LOL, you can't have it both ways.
Re: Meanwhile, Intel seems to be reducing the price of a much older sku, rather than any of their high end offerings.

Wrong. Intel lowered the prices of their 2.0GHz/1M Xeon MP processor. There are Six other skus on their price list that still have >$1000 pricing.
