Thanks, wccawa. This wireless stuff is all new to me. I found two connections, one secure, the other an open access linksys connection (whatever that is). Obviously, I'm using the linksys. Is that someone else's system or is that a public access system? Of course, I'm in a city, but would these networks still be available for me to tap into when I am camping in the desert somewhere or will I have to buy a Verizon card and pay for access like everyone else?

Wasn't it you who recommended Windows Defender? Is that worth downloading?

Oh, and before I forget, this laptop has hibernation enabled on it and whenever it goes into hibernation I can't get it out again. I remember I disabled this on my TerminatorII, but I can't remember how to do it. Is there a way to bring it out of hibernation without shutting down and rebooting?
