HYVR is building reactors, and they are finding ways to lower operating costs, but they are still far, far from being practical in comparison to fossil fuel generators. If you think that the company is making a profit on this reactor at Terra Nova you're kidding yourself. Terra Nova is paying only a small fraction of the cost of the reactor and operating expenses, and HYVR is taking a loss to show that their technology works and that it is being put to use. It makes for good pr and comforts investors(see spike in stock price), but offers no profit or other gain for the company. If these reactors offered operating costs anywhere near that of conventional reactors, the federal government would be giving them grants, reactors would be installed all over, and the stock price would be through the roof. The sale of the reactor by-product does reduce operating costs, but only minimally, because the by-product of this type of reaction is very inexpensive, and is used by very few companies. These reactors will never offer a practical advantage over conventional reactors or ones currently developed by other companies. From my experience in trhe chemistry field I would estimate the cost of energy from these reactors(although never concretely stated by the company, I wonder why), is at least 10-15 times greater than conventional generators. I would guess that they will build several more reactors in the years to come, to boost investor confidence, and then the few people who still have confidence in them now will realize, just as most everyone in the investment world already has, that this promising new technology is nothing more than an attempt by the proprietors to get a piece of the big money that's being invested in hydrogen and clean alternative energy.
