Just a small addition to the great DD flowing onto the board today.

On the BS latcher

the silver bricks (lead) are slightly bigger than a house brick--

the silver bricks are zinc anodes (they do look like lead) and they act to prevent corrosion by being the sacrificial anode

They're not painted so that they can be in direct contact with the seawater. By their size, I'd imagine the service interval to be several years before needing replacement.

Seems like a trivial tidbit to add compared to the big picture being painted here, but there you go, sacrificial zinc anodes!

It seems a bit rough lately.
