yeah i completely agree. i was just saying that ddi is offering just the ahc which lets the company buy just the AHC (thereby undercutting larger sales of the entire proteus system) and the AHC seems to be what is so special about the entire proteus system. essentially, the ahc is the algorithm, no? in the end, i think it's a better long-term strategy given that DDI is already known in the market place. it widens the client list and when the previously existing winches are ready for replacement, the client will be more willing to purchase the entire proteus set-up.

as far as the lifespan goes, brikk gave me a great response. 1) it's a brand new product so we can really only guess at this point about proteus' lifespan but electrowave appears to have a record of making products last longer than industry standards. 2) the lifespan of competitors' winches (and future proteus systems) depend on how each company uses them and how they are customized.

p.s. i'd still like a ballpark guess though, atleast around the industry standard of how long one of these kinds of winches can last. this would aid us projecting long term sales from return buyers.
