1. Both names are well known and were mentioned in connection with NDOL before. I don't have time to search (maybe euddoggwyn remembers - he remembers everything! :), but I believe WSR is where NDOL's imaginary Samara license Yamelyanovskoye finally went. This company is pumping our oil. :) In general, this merger looks very logical: Alians was mainly down stream company with it's big Khabarovsk Refinery and they were looking to buy some oil reserves, WSR is oil producer and, like all oil producers, they want rather to export refined product than raw oil - because of high export dues. Now we will have new big integrated company. Both sides win. Some reporters mention that Bagaev family, that controls Alians, is close to Kremlin. It would be a good protection for "foreigner" WSR.
2. Imperial Energy sold just 3% of shares. It's $50.71 mln. I don't know who was the buyer. This new international banking appointment in NWOG management promises some hopes - both here and in SNGF deal. Maybe Malyshev is going to surprise us?
