If you do a bit of digging I'am sure you can get more detailed answers. The trial sizes where small so perhaps the false positive rates will go up with larger trials. The hang up is repeating the results with mass spec and/or developing in office tests that are just as accurate as these initial tests.

They have a nmp22 for bladder on the market that works differently and is not as accurate as these prelimary testing results. They are also developing nmp179 for cervival which again I believe works differently and is not as accurate. Both are around 90% if my memory serves me correctly.

I believe 1000 or so samples have been collected for each of these nmp's. If they ever get a mass spec to work it shouldn't take long to complete the analysis.I no longer follow this company day to day but I still own a position.

The breast cancer blood screening test, NMP66 , produced the following results:

Detected 21 out of 21 cancers in women with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer
Detected 5 out of 5 cancers in women who were newly diagnosed with advanced (metastatic) breast cancer
Detected 8 out of 8 cancers in women with breast cancer involving more than one lymph node
Detected 6 out of 6 cancers in women with breast cancer involving one lymph node
Detected 5 out of 5 cancers in women with breast cancer that did not involve any lymph nodes
Detected 4 out of 5 cancers in women with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), an early- stage breast cancer
Ruled out breast cancer in 26 of 28 women with normal or benign breast conditions .

Matritech has identified NMP48 as a marker for prostate cancer. In initial
tests of 52 men known to have prostate cancer, 50 had NMP48. Of those, ten
with normal PSA results were NMP48-positive. In a further test of 30 men
without prostate cancer, 29 had no NMP48. In additional tests, men with
benign prostate diseases were found to be NMP48 negative indicating that
the test correctly differentiates between cancerous and non-cancerous
prostates.

In August 2000, Matritech reported that it had found NMP35 in people with
colon cancer but had not found the protein in healthy pe ople. Further
testing produced some remarkable results: out of 37 patients with colon
cancer, all 37 were correctly identified; all 20 healthy people had no NMP35;
of 6 people with pre -cancerous polyps, all 6 tested NMP35 positive; and 8
others with benign conditions had no NMP35

More info:

there are currently more than 41 million diagnostic procedures
each year in the U.S. related to the five cancers Matritech is initially targeting,
with a total annual budget of approximately $5.7 billion based on typical pricing
to the user. However, if everyone who should have a test did so, we estimate that
market would currently be over 330 million procedures a year in the U.S. alone,
and at least twice that including Europe and Japan.
The potential market is based on the number of people who should have
screening tests for specific types of cancer. More specifically, our assumptions
are annual tests for the following groups of the U.S. population:
Ø Bladder cancer – all men over 65 (currently 14 million) plus frequent
monitoring of the 700,000 people who have had bladder cancer.
Ø Breast cancer – all women over 40 (currently 62 million).
Ø Cervical cancer – all women over 18 (currently 105 million).
Ø Prostate cancer – all men over 50 (currently 33 million).
Ø Colorectal cancer – all people over 40 (currently 116 million).
Because Matritech’s tests are more accurate, less invasive, and generally less
expensive than current techniques, we believe that Matritech’s technology could
help to expand the market towards the target of more than 330 million tests per
year in the U.S.
Based on an average test price of $15, that would be a five billion dollar a year
market in the U.S., and at least $10 billion worldwide. Furthermore, owing to the
aging of the American population, the total potential market of 330 million tests a
year in the U.S. is set to increase by 50% over the next twenty years.
Widespread adoption of Matritech’s cancer screening tests could have a
profound effect on the early detection and successful treatment of cancer,
reducing mortality rates and improving the quality of life.

Hope this is of some help!
