House conservatives uphold Bush’s SCHIP veto. Conservatives in the House blocked Congress from expanding children’s health insurance today. The House fell approximately 15 votes short of the needed 2/3 majority needed to override Bush’s veto. Rep. Steve King (R-IA) called the SCHIP defeat a “victory” for “kids” and “taxpayers.”
