It's another form of advertising, Susie. Advertising is a major part of how we support the site. Personally, I would be tickled pink if everyone subscribed and we could do away with ads, but in the real world that's not going to happen.

So, we sell ad space. We also provide a way for you to turn it off. That means we're only going halfway to hell ;)
