Mschere re IDCC's CDMA2000 licensees

None of IDCC's existing CDMA2000 paying customers make hardly any CDMA2000 products. Therefore, IDCC has earned only miniscule amounts from CDMA2000 thus far. I think that IDCC might have gotten a decent royalty rate for CDMA2000 products in the 3G contracts of Matsushita, NEC, Sharp, and HTC. However if they sell little or no CDMA2000 products, then whatever CDMA2000 royalty rate they have agreed to pay IDCC is rather meaningless to them.

I think that IDCC wants other OEMs to pay the same rate for CDMA2000 as the aforementioned companies. However it appears that none of the manufacturers who make significant CDMA2000 products are willing to license with IDCC at these same rates, for whatever reasons. I have opinioned in the past that I believe CDMA2000 is the major sticking point in IDCC's 3G licensing efforts, and I still believe it. IDCC desperately needs to establish a CDMA2000 royalty rate with a major manufacturer of CDMA2000 products soon in order to establish a valid precedent for others IMO. Perhaps IDCC thought that the Tantivy CDMA2000 patents would help break us out of the apparent logjam with CDMA2000, and they still may.
