Sen. Smith Defends Lott's Pro-Segregation Toast

On the Senate floor today, Sen. Gordon Smith (R-OR) says Trent Lott should not have apologized or stepped down from his leadership post for endorsing Strom Thurmond's segregationist campaign. What's more, Smith claims Lott said similar things "many times."
