i disagree, i dont think that a reduction of shares is the only way to sustain a higher pps. better than that is sustained organic growth (more stores and growth within each store) and also there is the issue of supply and demand. many of us here have several million shares that we are holding. if each person on the board (about 330) only has 1 million shares that they are not planning to sell, in effect it reduces the supply, much the same as reducing the shares. however, reducing the shares is better because it makes the remaining shares a larger piece of the pie per share.

in other words, if the company reduced the shares by 330M, then there will only be 670M (approximately of course) left over in the float. so to reduce the shares by 33% means that each share is inherently worth 150% more than it previously was.
