Is it your contention that this stock dividend is in and of itself a taxable event ? But let me say distribution instead of dividend...
I suggest that it is not a taxable event for you and I unless or until it is sold....and I believe the basis (cost) will be zero....Whatever is obtained by selling will be taxed 100% POTENTIALLY,subject to other overall influences of earnings , interest, etc on one's 1040...
