JAIL??? Chances are NONE of them went to jail...

they probably paid a hefty fine and returned to business as usual.

IMHO they have done far less than NME (National Medical Enterprises) convicted of defrauding Medicare of one billion dollars in 1992. Fined about $675 million and monitored for 5 years after changing its name to Tenet Healthcare Corporation.

Then THC was exposed in 2002 of perpetrating $1.6 billion in Medicare fraud and fined about $900 million in total.

NO ONE ever went to jail!

IMO such criminal behavior by hospital management has NOTHING to do with GSII (or its business) other than a possible risk if caught up in a current problem having just negotiated an "accounts receivable" deal... at which time they would lose their fees for disallowed charges.

If long past the time any fraud is committed, the provider committing the fraud IS the one liable to repay the feds any fine... GSII as a processor of accounts receivable should not have any problems.

Seems to be a risk (for the Medicare or insurors) common in the healthcare business... and IMO until the likes of Jeffrey Barbakow (THC CEO 2002) are jailed for frauds perpetrated corporate-wide & nationwide, such frauds will continue to surface intermittently.

Net result in my example: No jail time for any individual, defrauded the government of $2.6 billion total, fined about $1.5 billion total, net ill-gotten gain to THC coffers $1.1 billion dollars! Not a bad decade's work! (Pure profit on top of all the legitimate services provided and paid for!) Small wonder Mr. BBQ was the highest paid CEO in the USA in 2002!
