Salt form and iontophoresis,

I completely agree with midswe concerning iontophoresis. This technique have been extensively tested in dermatology with some products on the market or about to be (see Vyteris, Alza, Empi, Life-tech, Iomed, birchpoint medical) and relies directly on the presence of ions (or salts) of the drug in solution.
There patent 6,670,344 about an improved salt form of CA4 (reread my post #780) is perfectly in line with that approach.
More interestingly, there is only one company developping ocular iontophoresis so far (see link www.optisgroup.com, a much better link than the one provided by midswe) and it seem they've been quite successfull so far for they've progressed from animal trial to clinical trial (see a recent paper from Halhal et al published recently in Experimental Eye Research Volume 78, Issue 3 , March 2004, Pages 751-757 and concerning the treatment of corneal graft rejection by iontophoresis of a corticoid in its salt form...).
Also, I've checked on NLM the work on ocular iontophoresis done by one of the inventors, Behar-Cohen, who seem to be one of the specialist of ocular drug delivery, and it's quite impressive.
I will continue to investigate on that matter.
Regards
