Biowatch,
I usually lurk, when I have time, but I had to comment. I agree totally with you on this one. Sermo (and I am a member) is anonymous as a forum, but you cannot post or become a member without having your medical license and credentials substantiated. Though I too think PFE is kinda crazy about associating itself with Sermo in some way, It would be difficult for PFE to post unless there are MDs that belong to PFE that would have their credentials and medical license substantiated. There are MDs in Pharma companies, mainly Research scientists, and not reps. Most Research scientists do not havethe time to try to "bias" MDs by logging on and writing on forum sites.
I think PFE is pushing the envelope mainly because now that it is known that they are connected to Sermo in some way, many MDs (myself included) will be more wary about posting on the site and may cancel their subscriptions. I have posted many times on Sermo and did not get paid....you can win awards of 50 to 100 dollars if there are threads that are informative and elicit many posts and rated high. Only a few of these are awarded a month.....
I do agree that info gained from this site may influence hedge funds and other companies to recognize early trends from MDs that could influence stock trends.....
I just wanted to add my two cents.....
now I will go back to lurking when I can get the chance....
