Call it luck or anything else if you want, but right now it appears that Linchuck was right on when he said the Yankees were more likely to make the playoffs than the Mets.

I harpooned that statement as just anther Yankee fan's self-satisfied sense of entitlement at the time, just as you did, but give the man his props.

He called it.

If the Mets don't end up making the playoffs, Linchuck's da man.

Even if the Mets do end up making the playoffs, he gets at least partial credit for going way the frick out on a limb and calling what he saw the way he saw it. And being right (or very nearly so, depending on what happens today and perhaps tomorrow and even the next day), as unlikely as it may have seemed to either of us, or anyone else.
