You're exactly right flash drives are not faster than hard drives. There's little or no demand for bootable flash drives. There's a small emerging market for tablet PCs with flash drives and for computers with dual flash/hard drive technology, so-called "hybrid drives": http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hybrid_drive
