BOREALIS,

I asked Bruce about the following;"IO ERRORS: 125".
And he suggested I contact you, the resident expert on Bit Defender .

Well, if there was any doubt, the fact that Bruce has appointed me the resident expert on anything -- aside from say, playing fetch -- proves that he has a sense of humor.

Nonetheless, we must soldier on as best we can, so: By the power invested in me by Bruce, I hereby declare that you have one of five things going on:

[1] It could be that your hard drive has some bad sectors and/or is getting ready to die on you -- the former being much more likely than the latter -- I think. Run Scandisk to check the condition of your hard drive.

(Special note if you are using Win XP. The Scandisk command is no longer available. Here is an explanation of what to do if you are using XP. http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=315265 )

[2] It could be that some of your RAM is having hiccups. Here is a free utility to check your RAM.

Note: I just downloaded this, and have no idea if/how well it works, or if it will cause your machine to explode.

[3] It could be that your computer is having harmless, random brain farts. No action required. Just air out the room. {G}

[4] It could be that there is something inherently funky with BitDefender. I have no idea what to do if this is the case.

[5] It could be something else entirely.

I hope this helps, (or at least that it does no harm).

(:

augie
