Matt, I have a ASUS AGP 5600 card. One AGP slot but the card in that slot has dual output. It has a vga out and a dvi out. The dvi out has an adaptor that allows me to hook up my vga monitor so I have 2 monitors running off of that card. I also have a GeForce 5200 PCI that has dual vga out and I have 2 monitors running off of that card for a total of 4 monitors. I was trying to add another GeForce 5200 PCI card with dual vga out so I could run 6 monitors. When I added the 2nd PCI card, I had 6 monitors hooked up and the computor recognized the monitors running on the 2 PCI cards but the 2 monitors hooked up to the AGP card were not functioning. That is why I thought the system had quit recognizing the AGP card. I didn't know if it was an IRQ conflict or what but I took out the 2nd PCI card and now am running again with the AGP and one PCI with 4 monitors. This is not really a big deal whether I get it to work or not. But I had an extra GeForce5200 PCI card and it would be nice it I could get them all to work.
The one lesson I have learned is the value of having more than one monitor. I ran 1 for years and once I got the second I could not believe how nice and how much easier it is to work with. I never imagined the difference having multiple monitors would make in so many tasks. For stock tracking and trading having multiple monitors makes a WORLD of difference. Having 6 monitors would really be overkill but there have been times I have wished for another. Since I had the card anyway, just thought I would try and see if it could work. My computor knowledge is very limited, as you can probably tell, but I have received so much help from these message boards thought I would try to see if I could get them all to work. If nothing else it would sure look cool having 6 monitors!!! My trading skills would still suck but the setup would be cool.
If I do get them all to work I will then need direction on how to explain to the wife why I need all these new LEDs. Hopefully you have a board for that too.
