seem to imply an earlier availability being possible, if demanded?

Yeah, read "customers" to be any customer. That is, if Intel sees any increase in demand for AMD's 64 bit parts b/c of being 64 bits, well...

Noone here thinks Intel will be a passive bystander, do ya?
