In the quest for the Holy Grail, and in honor of this Holiday Season, I will openly offer to send a copy of the HUSKY spreadsheet to anyone who asks. HUSKY was born the beginning of this year 2003 when Husk made a post on 1/23/03 which Provides a means of almost unlimited downward price movement without running out of cash. That post was quickly followed by a post from Greyhound on 1/26/03 about the “Drip Technique”, which Provides a means of retaining shares for maximizing gains in an upward market.
I combined their methods, plus a few other twists, and the result is a program which ‘RARELY’ runs out of cash, does not need parameters tweaked (performs equally as well with a low beta stock as with a high beta stock); thus, you will hear me mention STD HUSKY, which is merely referring to the standard parameter settings.
In my testing with Std Husky, the average ending PV, was generally 20-30% higher than Std AIM. Most of my back testing covered 5 to 10 years of data (d,w,m). The strength and stability of HUSKY can be seen in an extreme example. For instance, in the spreadsheet I will send, is monthly data for VTSS from Feb 98 thru Oct 03. The stock price started at 12.70, wiggled up to $103.81 in Feb 00, the wiggled down to $0.68 in Sep 02 and then back up to $7.04 Oct 03.
Try shifting the data in the spreadsheet so that the start of the study is right at the peak of $103 in Feb 00. Std. HUSKY provides trading all the way through the low and keeps on going, just like an energizer bunny. Std. AIM would have exhausted its cash reserves by the time the price had dropped to the $70s, with tweaking, maybe into the $50s.
The robustness of HUSKY is amazing; but, we are in quest of the Holy Grail! We need a program which can be started like Twinvest/Synchrovest OR a combination of initial lump sum plus regular contributions. HUSKY will do that as well!
