Intel is only in the PC space TI is in the semi space
You made the assertion since most of Intel revenue and profit are derived from the PC space.
However I can apply the same logic to TI, and claim that TI is in the cell phone space, since TI's biggest customers are NOKIA and other GSM phone manufacturers. Take away the cell phone business, and there will not be much left of TI. A broader perspective is that Intel is in the digital processor space, and TI is in analog & signal processing space.
Both the PC space and the cell phone space are so huge that a majority of the world wide semiconductor revenue comes from these two spaces. Any other company would die to be in the dominant position in these premier spaces which are still growing.
A narrow focus may appear dangerous, but narrow focus makes for much better execution and assures future domination.
