The definition you are referring too is not one that 99% of market professionals use, so i wouldn't expect it to carry too much weight.

If you cant find any info on this "theory" easily on the internet, its safe to say its not widely known.

The shadow (days trading range) of the candle counts as a gap fill by every standard ive seen.
