Settlements are compromises. They usually reflect risk on both sides, not total victory by one side.

Maybe Canaccord was vulnerable. Maybe NWBO wanted cash and certainty. Maybe the settlement creates pressure on other lesser defendants. You're right, we do not know.

But in the context of the “billions in punitive damages” theory, which is where this thread began, pressing the advantage would mean pursuing the New York fraud claim through trial. That is the only plausible path to punitive damages.

Settling with a lesser defendant and holding funds in escrow while pursuing discussions with other lesser defendants sounds more like practical resolution than a march toward a massive punitive damages trial.

More good than bad? Maybe. Proof of a jackpot? No.
