I expect LM to win and produce the hinge. Strength, durability, and the thinness of the material will take precedence. I believe, like you, Apple is playing hardball with LM for a better price. Apple builds phones to last. As of early 2026, the oldest iPhones still in active service are generally the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus (2015), which are roughly 10–11 years old. While they no longer receive the latest iOS 17/18+ updates, they received security patches as recently as early 2026, allowing them to remain functional for basic tasks. So, if you want an iPhone to last 10-11 years, use LM.
