This deal is arguably even more telling than the first. It is clear Lilly is not just ''interested'' in recombinases. They are placing multiple bets across different technological platforms.
Profluent's angle is much closer to what Basecamp is doing, but could be more aggressive. Profluent uses foundation models for protein design and designs entirely new recombinases, not just tweaks. It aims for new target specificities, higher activity and potentially simpler architectures.
