gfp: I don't think the metals and mines would go down that far. Inflation is going to keep coming in strong. Some at the Fed want to lower Rates by a quarter point anyway. We're spending $22 Billion A WEEK just in interest on our debt. It's all being monetized one way or another. As long as we are borrowing more than the interest we're paying it's like we're kiting checks, or opening new credit cards to pay off the old ones. The CPI is utter trash as a thermometer of actual inflation. With gas prices at $4 a gallon and diesel over $5.50 a gallon prices are going to be going up fast. Then there will be the food shortages by next year due to the lack of adequate fertilizer for this year's planting season. Crop yields will suffer greatly. I'm going out today to plant our tomato plants. I was waiting for our last cool nights to be over. Our "summer" starts this Wednesday when we start a series of 90 degree days. I'm also planting red and green peppers and string beans. And I'm looking at growing potatoes in a large pot. Due to the configuration of our land and all the trees we could not be self-sufficient growing our own produce unless I had about 50 trees cut down and added a greenhouse. But if that becomes a necessity then we will do what we have to do. Luckily our neighbor supplies us with cage free eggs. He's got a huge fenced enclosure and large hen house and he usually gives us almost all the eggs we eat.
