Today Coherent announced a multi-year agreement with NVIDIA focused on scaling advanced optical technologies for AI infrastructure.

As AI systems grow, interconnects between accelerators become a scaling constraint, and photonics becomes integral to system architecture. This collaboration reflects strong alignment between NVIDIA’s AI compute roadmap and our work in lasers, optics, and high-performance optical interconnect.

The agreement includes a multi-year purchase commitment, long-term access to our advanced laser and networking technologies, and a $2B investment from NVIDIA in Coherent. Importantly, it also enables tighter collaboration between our respective compute and optical roadmaps as AI datacenter infrastructure continues to evolve.

I’ve worked with NVIDIA for more than two decades across multiple products and technology generations, and I’ve seen firsthand how impactful this collaboration can be.
