Conservative activist Charlie Kirk was discussing gun violence and transgender mass shooters in a Q&A session moments before he was fatally shot at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

According to witness accounts and video evidence, the specific exchange occurred as follows:

The Final Question: An audience member asked Kirk if he knew how many transgender Americans had been mass shooters in the last 10 years.

Kirk’s Initial Response: Kirk replied, "Too many".

The Follow-up: The questioner then asked how many mass shooters there had been in America overall in the last decade.

Kirk’s Last Words: Kirk's final words before being struck were: “Counting or not counting gang violence?”.

The shooting occurred at approximately 12:23 p.m. MDT during his "American Comeback Tour". Investigators determined Kirk was struck in the neck by a single bullet fired from a nearby rooftop by a sniper. A 22-year-old suspect, Tyler James Robinson, was later charged with aggravated murder.
