You are right to an extent, but in the same way algorithms can be used to manipulate the price downwards the maximum amount on the minimum volume, they can also be used to strategically unload as many shares as possible with as minimal effect as possible. In other words today the price was driven down 6%+ on about 300k volume wiping out about 7 days of gains on about 25,000,000 volume. Also keep in mind that there is a lot of dilution that is done without affecting the trading volume at all e.g. the C shares. Anyway, I'm not saying the company doesn't dilute routinely and kill rallies, just that it's pretty easy to spot spoofing and ask capping on low volume.
