And this doesn't read to me like the profession is going to hell in a handbasket. Lastly, small but growing sample, Trump's insulting shortness with reporters tells me that they ARE doing their job.

The idea that journalists no longer require college and training is an exaggeration. Most full-time journalists today still have at least a bachelor's degree, usually in journalism, communications, or a closely related field.

In summary, a one-year master's program is a common and viable path for many, but a master's degree is not the only, nor universal, degree for a journalism career.
