Decisions decisions. Around this time of year I start to think about taxes.

Many long term holders of Amarin, like I, may have brought our cost basis down over the years but still have some shares with a very high cost basis. At this time of year I always debate with myself if I should sell a tiny amount of those high cost basis Amarin shares in order to utilize that 3K capital loss on the 1040. The quirk here that makes it slightly alluring, is that there are a few shares that are at such a high cost basis that it would take selling very few of them to rack up a decent loss. And I say to myself, although we are hoping and thinking that we eventually make out on this investment, that nothing is guaranteed, whereas taking some loss every year on our taxes helps a tiny bit at least.

In that wrestling match in my mind, I have so far always went with the idea that I will just hold and that those higher cost basis shares will come in handy to blunt the capital gain blow when we finally hit pay dirt here.

Not sure if anyone else here has thought or acted on something like this?
