Money isn't an issue. Dr. M has the ATM and he can easily raise the cash needed, even at a depressed $2/share, and the company will be just fine and will return massive profits to patient shareholders or astute newcomers if approved later and if they can hit peak sales greater than 1mm users.

The issue is time. Not everyone is willing to wait the 3 or so years it'll take to run the trials. Dr. M may feel pressure to strike a deal that is more beneficial short term.

I don't think the company will have much of a choice but to plan for another trial, but even so the future is still pretty bright even despite the long-term setback. His gambit to go solo until the last minute didn't pay off and it potentially set the program back a few years. For a lot of us, Anavex was always a set-it-and-forget-it stock anyway. Now for those who play with fire (i.e. options) that's another conversation.
