A micro ring resonator (MRR) modulator is a high-speed, compact optical device that modulates light by shifting the resonant wavelength of the micro ring. It works by altering a parameter, most commonly the refractive index, within the ring, which changes the light's transmission intensity. These modulators are crucial for high-speed data transmission in optical interconnects and are highly efficient due to their small size and low power consumption. Remember that today's MRR are temperature sensitive, I'm pretty sure that I heard that Lightwaves material does not require a heater so very little electric is needed. But I do not remember where.

X I heard that Ted and Pumpkin were asked to verify the math for a customer looking at using Perk in Medical Sensors used to test blood for cancer.

Core equations and concepts Optical Path Length: The total length the light travels within the ring, calculated as the circumference (\(L\)).\(L=2\pi R\), where \(R\) is the radius of the ring.

Resonance Condition: Light resonates when the round-trip phase shift is an integer multiple of \(2\pi \). The phase is calculated as:\(\phi =\frac{2\pi n_{eff}L}{\lambda }\)\(\phi =\frac{4\pi ^{2}n_{eff}R}{\lambda }\), where \(n_{eff}\) is the effective refractive index and \(\lambda \) is the wavelength.

Free Spectral Range (FSR): The frequency spacing between adjacent resonance peaks.\(FSR=\frac{c}{n_{g}L}=\frac{\lambda ^{2}}{n_{g}L}\).\(c\) is the speed of light, and \(n_{g}\) is the group index.

Quality Factor (Q): A measure of the resonator's sharpness and how long light can be stored in the cavity. It is defined by the resonant wavelength divided by the bandwidth at half the maximum intensity (FWHM).\(Q=\frac{\lambda _{r}}{FWHM}\).Sensitivity:

For sensors, the change in resonant wavelength (\(\delta \lambda \)) for a change in the analyte's refractive index (\(\delta n\)) is a key metric.\(Sensitivity=\frac{\delta \lambda }{\delta n}\).

It is at the 18 minute and 37 Seconds is where most get lost, not to worry that is why the shorts are here to point out the discrepancies.
