My definition of the "ideal" on 'the sidelines' is a free core, profits accumulating and positioning for the next tradable bounce or solid move.
At the end of a trade, no matter what the outcome, it is either a win or a loss. Very seldom is it a tie in stocks.

Not saying anyone truly on the sidelines can't get back in the game. This casino is always open and one must realize it favors the house. Retail is only a small % of market money movement. This is true of individual stocks as well.

The overall implication of "on the sidelines" would most often mean entirely out of the stock, even if waiting to re-enter.
Just my opinions.
