Yes, "rehab can last a year or more." Is that still the general rule these days?

Yes a little over a year. For HS kids they need to be on a pitch count with X days rest between starts depending on how many pitches they throw. Most HS leagues have to abide by pitch count rules. The problem is if the kid is also playing travel ball and failing to tell his HS coach he's pitching there as well.
