Only time I sought out a good wristwatch was when my son was a baseball pitcher in HS and afterward. Some pundits claimed it was possible to measure pitching speed with a stopwatch and i set out to learn the truth about that. A big problem is it takes much less than a second for a baseball to travel the 60' 6" from release point to the batters box. One might be able to approximate a slow grade school player with a watch, but not a higher level pitcher.

Eventually I bought a professional radar gun for $900. I learned from a lot of experimentation that even the best "guns" don't give trustworthy readings due to ball spin and much more. I'll add that a stopwatch would only tell average speed while a gun would lock on to the top speed (at release).

Despite my $900 radar gun purchase, I doubt I ever spent more than $150 for a watch. Such are my priorities.
