Yes. I use it for pasta. So I start what will be the water I boil the pasta in in advance. Cut the tough stems of the broccoli rabe into smallish dice, and cook them in a minute or two in the boiling water. Then I fish 'em out with a spider and put them in a skillet where I have sliced (or chopped, if you prefer) garlic cooking in olive oil on low heat. I chop up the rest of the broccoli rabe and add it to the skillet with about a tablespoon or a little more of tomato paste. (For just me, I'd be using half a bunch of broccoli rabe.) Add salt and red pepper flakes, and stir.

In the meanwhile cook the pasta of your choice. Penne or rigatoni work well. Add them to the broccoli rabe in the skillet, with a little more olive oil if necessary. Turn off the heat and add freshly grated cheese. Pecorino or Parmigiano reggiano.

Some people add a few sultana raisins. You could try that if you like a touch of sweetness.
