There is a strategy being used by the bashers and it is effective. By repeating the same negative posts that are many times far fetched they cause the supporters of the company to respond and also become more far fetched in their support. In effect driving many longs to a more extreme position.
The reasonable people in the middle become fewer and fewer.
Once the supporters have moved to the more extreme positions of support the bashers then attack the longs as being extreme and irrational.
Basically the plan is to polarize the investors and move them to the extreme positions.
It is a variation of what the IBM sales people used to do back in the 70s through the late 90s.
They IBM would push the target company's bid evaluators with more extreme attacks on the competition and and over claim what the IBM systems could do until the evaluators got really annoyed with the IBM sales people. Then the IBM sales people would go to upper management and claim that the evaluators were prejudiced against IBM and get upper management to make the sales decision. Upper management was easier to influence typically because they were less technical and more easily subject to the IBM brand name.
Here is an example of that at work.
